Spirit Week at Middle Creek 2014

Spirit week/homecoming week at Middle Creek High School has been, in the past, a big and popular week. Most students partake in the dress up days and have a lot of fun with it. Monday was “nerd day” and wherever you looked you could see students dressed in suspenders and big taped glasses. Some students complained that not enough students dressed up for the day despite the pretty good turnout.
Monday was followed by “Tacky Tuesday,” which most students participated in, “Western Wednesday,” and “Blast from the Past Thursday.” On Thursday, freshmen dressed up in 50s attire, sophomores 60s, juniors 70s, and seniors 80s.
Wednesday and Thursday’s themes weren’t as popular as Tuesday’s but you could still find classmates in costume throughout the school. Friday’s theme was a pink-out as it was the first home game of October, which is also known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The halls of Middle Creek were a sea of pink on Friday, students dressing themselves from head to toe in pink hats, pink shirts, pink scarves, pink shorts, and pink shoes and socks.
The football game on Friday night against Panther Creek featured a pink centerfield logo and end zone letters and pink field numbers to honor Breast Cancer Awareness. The Mustang student section, renowned as one of the best in the state, much like the football team they support, was a jumping sea of pink.
The Mustang football team, sadly, couldn’t pull out a win against the Catamounts, but the Creek Crazies cheered them on until the bitter end.
Middle Creek’s homecoming/spirit week 2014 was quite a success. The students showed off their school spirit and love for their school by dressing up each day and cheering until they lost their voices on Friday night for their football team.
